BEING THE BRIDGE BETWEEN FAMILIES AND SCHOOLS

LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF
My name is Alexis Betancourt-Hart (Ed.M) I am a former New York State Special Education Teacher, specializing in K-12 education for students with disabilities across all major academic content areas. It is my commitment that all learners and their families are capable of achieving their goals as long as they have a caring, committed and compassionate educator who supports them and is genuinely invested in their general well being.
Professionally, I have highly trained experience working specifically with Students on the Autism Spectrum, Students with Disabilities, their families and their school communities. As a former educator I have developed and implemented my own tailored curriculum across all major academic content areas, to meet my learners’ abilities and match NYS grade level standards. Additionally, I have extensive knowledge relative to education policy at both the local and federal level, as well as social analysis focused on creating equitable school environments for all learners in all communities.
For the past several years I have worked with entire school communities (learners, educators, administrators, related service providers and families) to establish fully inclusive spaces for Autistic learners who are learning the majority of the time with their neurotypical peers. In addition, I have extensive experience supporting educators to develop their pedagogical beliefs and strategies as it relates to the direct needs of their classrooms and help support their development by working collaboratively with them to meet their professional goals.

I am deeply passionate about empowering learners to reach their fullest potential by thoroughly supporting their individual needs and working collaboratively with the family to ensure there is consistent support for all involved in the learning process. I am committed genuinely to supporting our learners especially during this time because learning should never happen in isolation and instead should be a collectively collaborative and engaging process.
